It's an easy look that can be done on straight, curly, or wavy hair. I usually wear it when my hair's wavy and if you sleep on it with wet hair, you'll wake up with curls that look like your used a curling wand. So, it's a 2 in 1 hairstyle and one that I love to do!
What you will need:
- 1 hair tie
- Hair brush (optional)
- Headband (optional)
3. Grab a 1" section from the back of the section closest to your head and pull it over to the other hair section furthest from your face. Do the same thing to the section you just added the section of hair to. (Tip: make sure to keep your 1" sections the same size to avoid a weird looking braid).
4. Grab a 1" section from the section of hair furthest from your face and bring it over the front and place it in the other section of hair closet to your face.
5. Repeat this process until you've reached the end of your hair and then secure it with a hair tie. (Tip: make sure to bring the 1" sections over the front and not around the back or you will not achieve the fishtail look).
Here's the finished look, a cute fishtail.
Hope you give this look a try! I would love to hear how the look turned out for you!
Your hair is so long, it's perfect for an impressive fishtail braid!
ReplyDeleteNice tutorial. That's how my mom braided my hair when I was a young girl.
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Caroline! Waiting for my hair to get long enough to try this braid. Thanks for the great tutorial! :)

Very cute!!
ReplyDeleteI have a hair appointment tomorrow and am debating whether to cut off my ponytail. I love my hair short but then I see cute hairdos like this and I second guess my decision.
ReplyDeleteI have done this on my girls when they were little but never on myself. Your braid turned out cute!!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved the fish tail braid, but can never do it. You make it look so easy. Your hair is beautiful by the way. Thanks for sharing at the Frugal Crafty Home Blog Hop!

omg i've been trying to figure out how to do these for years! Thank you! Now I just have to wait for my hair to grow a bit...
ReplyDeleteI tried to do one of these the other day but sadly it didn't work :( I'm thinking my hairs just to short at the moment. Will have to give it another try when it's grown a bit again as I do love the look of them :).

My hair is so thick that even a normal plait looks odd so I'm not sure I'd manage this one! Yours looks fab.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew about this when my daughter was young. Thanks for sharing on Tuesdays With a Twist and please join us again tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWow! I have super thick hair and a lot of it! I have a hard time managing a regular braid or a French braid. Love the look of this fishtail braid! Thanks so much for linking up to All My Bloggy Friends last week - I hope you'll join us again tomorrow. I look forward to seeing what you've been working on this week! :)
