Pop of Color

1. Black Peplum Top Forever 21
2. Orange Pants Target
3. Nude Wedges Forever 21
4. Pearl Headband Forever 21
5. Gold Bracelet Forever 21
6. Petal Pink Essie Polish

Ok, I have to tell you, I can't wait for spring!! I have said this alot, I know, but it
so true. To quench my desire for spring, I decided to come up with a cute spring outfit! One thing that I really wanted in my outfit, was a peplum top. They are so cute, and I just love them! I have a red peplum top, but really need to get another spring color, maybe mint.

I love colored jeans, so I naturally had to add them to my outfit! They are so cute, and can make any outfit cute! To add some height, since I'm relatively short, I put some cute light pink wedges in the mix, and then added some well needed accesorries. But, the outfit wasn't complete, until I added some pink polish! Basically, this outfit is screaming spring to me!

I am thankful, that it's almost spring break though, and I'm greatful for the time to relax that it will bring.

What do you think of my outfit? Am I the only what that is longing for spring and warm weather?

Running Tips

(via)

From my running training for my half marathon with my sisters, I have learned that rest and stretching are key parts to have a good 'running career.' On the days that me and my sisters did not run (i.e. Wednesday and Sunday), we would stretch, rest and recover.

Also, when me and my sisters went running, we would time ourselves and see how fast we ran our miles. Let me tell you, the first couple weeks of running, our miles were pretty long. About midway into our running training, we were at about 11 minute miles, but, by the the end, we were about 10 minutes. So something else I learned from running, is to keep your pace. Don't constantly slow down and speed up. It's not good for your body and it lowers your stamina and endurance.

If your just starting to run, I say take your time. If it takes you 14 minutes to run your first mile, that's fine, but make sure you have a steady pace. From learning early on in running to have a steady pace, me and my sisters were able to get through each race we did (5k, 10k, and half marathon), without stopping!! Let me say that again, WE DID NOT STOP! Sometimes I felt like I was going to die, but I never stopped running, and that has taught me a great amount of perseverance. Also, let me tell you, my sisters are great encouragers, so if we ever felt down, there was always someone to lift our spirits up and motivate us.

So, if you want to start running, but don't know what to do first, just try running a mile. After a week of running a mile, add another mile, and so on. Make sure to keep a steady pace and stay hydrated, and if you need encouragement, don't be afraid to invite a friend to run with you.

Hope this post encourages you to persevere, through not only running, but whatever is going on in your life!

Flowers + Tunic

Top Forever 21 (last Fall)/ Pants Old Navy / Shoes Amazon / Bracelet Gift from Costa Rica / Hair Tie Here

Even though it's winter, it doesn't mean I have to wear limited colors and patterns. So, I branched out a little, and wore this floral tunic as a top and put on some cute olive green pants from Old Navy.
For me, this is like the perfect outfit. It has color and looks cute and can be worn in the spring too.

The tunic is so cute and I have come up with tons of ways that I can wear it. I can role up my pants into capris, wear shorts with the tunic, wear a skirt, or wear tights. Their are endless possibilities for wearing a tunic. I can't wait to try out all the ways I can wear this cute floral tunic.

How do wear tunics? I would love to know what you pair with your favorite tunic!

Cream Nails

Happy Monday!!

I have to tell you, I have really gone all out on trying new nail polishes. I tried this cream colored polish and it was so cute and went with everything I wore! Even though I don't wear nail polish all the time, it has really been nice to discover new polish colors and designs.

With spring coming, I'm really excited about wearing some brighter nail polish colors! I can't wait to wear mint and teal polish and brighter clothes! Are you excited for spring to come too?

High Five For Friday

1. This past weekend I went on a weekend retreat. Inhabit was the theme, and it was about being set apart from the world. Romans 12:2 says, Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV) This scripture reminded me that the world's ways are not always God's ways. All things said, I had a great weekend last week!!

2. My brother got me this bracelet from his study abroad trip to Costa Rica. It's gorgeous and reminds me to pray for not only the people in Costa Rica, but also for my brother, who is trying to become fluent in Spanish.

3. I got a letter from the child I sponsor through Compassion Internaional! The girl I sponsor is so sweet, and she drew me an orange (even though it's green). Her name is Vida, and she is a sweet girl. Please pray for her and her family, she lives in an aids infected area and can really use prayer for protection and for her families well being. If you would like to learn more about sponsoring a child in a third world country, check out the Compassion Website.

4. I got a new journal, and I am so excited about using it! Considering how I am finishing the journal I have now, I really needed a new one.

5.  Made a rope braid and it was so cute! Loving the look and so excited about figuring different ways to style one.

Happy Friday!

Mint In Winter

1. Shirt Target / 2. Jeans Forever 21 / 3. Cardigan Target / 4. Ring Forever 21 / 5. Bag Forever 21 /
6. Shoes Target

This outfit, I think, is the perfect way to add a little bit of color for the beginning of spring coming up. I know, Spring isn't until March, but adding color doesn't have to be just in spring and summer. So, this is the perfect transition to spring outfit. It has color and some neutrals. I love the mint skinnies and how they add color to the outfit.

Can I just say, I love the heart shaped ring! It fits perfectly, since it's the month of love. The cardigan adds the extra warmth to the outfit. You never know how cold it will get and it's perfect for just feeling cozy and comfortable. All in all, this is the perfect outfit for the end of winter, and the start of spring.

Would you wear this? Do you like the new trend of mint colored skinnies, and basically everything?

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Running Tips

From my running training for my half marathon, I have learned that your need to have a running plan. When me and my two sisters started our half marathon training, we knew we didn't want to run seven days a week, and we knew we needed a plan. So, my sisters and I decided we would run five days a week. Everyday, but Wednesday, and Sunday, we ran. We ran 2-4 miles each day except for Saturday, when we ran our long runs. We tried to work our way up a mile a week in our long runs.
I also learned, that to be a good runner, you need to stay hydrated. Drinking water has never been problem for me, but I did increase how much water I drank. I have always carried a water bottle around, so when I started running, I tried to drink at least one whole water bottle. My water bottle was roughly 16oz.

So, from running, I have learned you need a running schedule and you need to drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Black + White

Shirt Forever 21/ Pants Thrifted / Cardigan Target / Shoes Gift/ Necklace Gift / Bracelet Gift

I am all about casual, comfortable clothes, that are still chic. This outfit is simples, casual and super comfortable and still very cute. Out of all the pieces of clothing, I have to say my cardigan is the most valuable. I love wearing my cardigan, especially when the weather changes so much. One minute it's hot, and the next it's freezing and windy. To stay safe, I always try to wear a cardigan or sweater. What is your most valuable/essential piece of clothing?

Did you have a great President's Day?

Hope you have a happy Tuesday!

High Five For Friday

1: I had a great time at a Father Daughter Banquet that I went to this week!

2: This week, the youth at my church are having an event we call D-Now, where they learn more about God and grow in their relatioinship with him. This is one of the funny rules lists that one of the host home leaders made for their home. I laughed so hard at 29 and 35.

3: At the Father Daughter Banquet, they had cute little cupcakes and I had to take a picture of them. They were super delicious too!!

4: I just got one of Ted Dekker's new books call Mortal, and I can't wait to read it and see what it's about.

5: For Christmas this year, my sister gave me a book called Hinds Feet On High Places, and although I haven't finished it yet, it has been a good read. It's a great story about trusting God and giving him your fears, kind of like John Bunyan's, Pilgrim's Progress, but shorter, and easier to read.

This week has been awesome and I am still looking forward to the events of tonight and the rest of the week!!

Happy Valentine's!

Happy Valentine's everyone!! Today is a very important day, not only for your special someone, but also for your family and friends. It's a great day to tell you family you love them and appreciate them, and to do a random act of kindness for someone.

When I think of days like Valentines Day (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easther), I remember that it's not about me. It's a special day to share love with people who have impacted my life. A day to look at funny photos, and make new memories.

I hope each of you today have a great Valentines Day, and that you think not only about your special someone, but of the people around you, and help to make their day a great day too!

Running In February

Yesterday I ran 2 miles! Although that is not my best number of miles to run, it was a goal I needed to reach. I have been sick for the past two weeks, with a sore throat and a runny nose, and running doesn't help them, so I took a 2 week running break.

I started running last year, when my sisters and I decided we wanted to run a half marathon. We started training the day after Christmas. After that first run, we worked our way up from a mile to two, and so on.

To keep us motivated for the half marathon, we ran a 5k in February 2012, after roughly a month of training. Then, in March, we ran a 10k and finally on April 1, 2012, we ran a half marathon!! It was so much fun to train and to run the races.

Surprisingly, it rained every race and was freezing, except for the half marathon. I definently learned how to use plastic wrap to keep my feet dry! We really battled the weather in our races, but we had fun encouraging each other and achieving our running goals!

Do enjoy running and staying fit? For any of you that do, great job, and keep doing it!! One tip for you if you want to start running. Try to find a running buddy, to help you stay motivated. From running with my two sisters, I know that it makes a big difference.

Blue + Grey Stripes

Shirt Thrift/ Pants Thrift / Boyfriend Cardigan JcPenney Belt Target (last year)/ Shoes Toms

This week has been so hectic! I know, it's the second day, what could have happened?! But, be assured, a lot has happened. Last night the Internet went out and we (i.e. my family) discovered our Internet had been purposely disconnected. Anyway, long story short, we just got Internet today at about 2pm after we lost it last night at about 7pm. So, to make up for my post last night, here is a style post and a life post combined.

I have discovered through this life changing event, that I rely too heavily on the commodities of not only a person of the 21st century, but as an American. I thought today about people around the world who go without electricity and running water, and who could care less about Internet, than the average American.

In the result of my thinking, I have decided to be grateful for the small things I have, like running water, electricity, and of course, the Internet. Also, I am not going to pray more, for the people who have less than me. I don't want to be the average American, I want to be someone who steps out of their comfort zone and helps someone and impacts another persons life, everyday.

Do you feel pressured by the world to have a face pace and to leave people out? I would love for you to join me in trying to impact one persons life a day!! Even just holding a door for someone behind you or taking time to talk to someone who you usually brush past are great ways to help people.

Forest Green

Shirt Marshalls / Tank Top Target/ Pants Aeropostale Similar Here/Shoes Ollie

I love this green top!! I bought it at Marshalls in October and have loved it ever since! It's cute and light and is a shirt I can wear in summer, spring, winter and fall. I am looking forward to the ways I can style it in the future. For spring, I was planning on tucking in the front, since it's has a flap in the back, and wearing some cute shorts and flats. Got any other ideas on how I can style it for spring?
